Mobile Sampling Robot
Current Developments
Island Sensors reviews current problems related to safety , productivity or quality of life to develop new products and sensor applications. Listed below are devices/systems we have recently designed or built to address immediate or future needs of our clients.

** A MOBILE ROBOT designed to sample spills or toxic substances remotely or to aid in package disposal (bombs or unstable chemicals) is nearing completion. Weighing less than 31 kg and transportable in the trunk of a small car it is immediately deployable for missions where proximity to objects or substances could be a safety concern. It is configurable for disposition of gasses, liquids or solids.

** Sailing WIND INDICATOR TELL-TALES are nearing completion. These electronic sensors are fastened to sails and remotely indicate the direction of wind and pressure over discrete areas of sails. Designed for large genoas and spinnakers, they indicate electronically in the cockpit when wind character changes without the need for a visual confirmation of tell-tale conditions.

** A BEACH PREDATOR WARNING SYSTEM has been developed to aid in detection of sharks and other hazards at the beach. The device consists of a specially configured polarized camera and transmitter that relays an image to a receiver manned by safety personnel onshore. The system solves a problem caused by changing ocean surface refraction and poor water visibility.
INSTRUMENTATION
Island Sensors supplies temporary analysis or test instrumentation to detect and record changes in process chemistry or product quality. Auto sampling systems may be designed to suit a clients' specific analysis and data acquisition needs. Anything from a specific ion or particle sampler to ion chromatographs or mass spectrophotometers are available.

Whether you are curious about the number of times a pump or valve operates in a year or a minute or the amount of hexavalent chromium in industrial waste water,or the concentration of carbon monoxide in your home we can supply detection, recording and reporting equipment.

Commercial Vessel Safety
Safety
We have extensive experience in helping to assure the safety of personnel or family members in any setting. We have recently completed design and fabrication of a MAN OVERBOARD system which automatically alarms, releases rescue equipment, "marks" a GPS satellite system and can (optionally) secure vessel engines without crew attention. The system is inexpensive , has an extremely low false alarm rate, and provides a vital function for commercial or recreational vessels operating at night or in open water.
